This past November, I was honored to be able to spoil my older cousin Lianna as one of her maids of honor. Both Lianna and I have always loved movies and make-believe (we’re both still children at heart). Anyone that knows her would tell you that Alice in Wonderland is one of her favorite movies, so what better way to celebrate her and her special day, than with a bridal shower that not only included the obligatory cutesy bridal shower nonsense, but also weaved in a relevant theme.
Best part is, we kept it a surprise up until the last minute!
Invitations
After deciding to go for the Alice in Wonderland theme, we scoured Etsy for the perfect themed invitation – landing on these light blue vintage inspired invites that everyone absolutely loved! It was only $18 for the digital file and we were able to print the 30 invitations on cardstock and hand address them for each of our guests!
Afternoon In Paris – Alice in Wonderland Invites
Favors
Sticking with the tea party theme for the shower, we thought antique teacups would be the perfect fit for our favors! I even hand-lettered the tags with each guests’ name – including our bride to be.
If you’re looking to do the same for your upcoming party, we found most of our teacups at goodwill and thrift shops.
Decor & Florals
Aiming for very classy and simple floral arrangements – we chose green hydrangeas and white roses – a little nod to Alice in Wonderland. Although, no one was painting the roses red for this party. lol
Adding in some laminated clocks reminded everyone that it was definitely time for tea!
Keys to a happy marriage
All of our guests were encouraged to write down their advice and impart their very own “keys” to a happy marriage. Then, they pinned their suggestions along with an antique key, to a giant bulletin board. After the party, we put all of the messages together for the bride to keep.
Dessert & Brunch
These scrumptious cupcakes were made by my cousin Monica’s friend – we had red and white roses made and added these adorable Alice in Wonderland cupcake picks to add a small theme element without going overboard and cheesy. The picks were from Amazon.
The Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, Alice and the Queen of Hearts all made an appearance!
The full spread.
We made this adorable garden-inspired photo backdrop with giant foam flowers and a striped shower curtain for guests to take photos with the bride – check out how we put together the backdrop here.
A huge congratulations to my cousin Lianna – from Miss Santiago to Mrs. Arguelles – 11.26.16.
