8 outfits of inspiration
What the heck do you wear to a winter wedding? This is what I found myself asking when we received our invitation to Jonathan’s brother David’s wedding this February. The wedding will be in Charleston, and I don’t know if you’re familiar with the weather in Charleston, SC, but during February it’s still pretty chilly. We’re talking historical temperatures of High 60’s and Lows in the mid 40’s (I know this, because I looked it up).
Now as a South Florida gal, transplanted into Northern Florida, aka. Georgia, I’ve become accustomed to chillier weather – but when I heard that part of the wedding would be outside, I wanted to make sure I dressed for the occasion. After looking online for what felt like forever, and finding very few options that fit within all of my parameters, I realized I would have to get creative.
The main challenge: How do I look stylish, not freeze my butt off and not spend a butt-ton of money since ya know, it’s not my wedding. 🙂

The Velvet Dress
Desir Vale Etsy – $110
The Pant Jumpsuit
The jumpsuit screams chic and trendy without going overboard, and allows you to cover most of your body without looking like a nun.
Asos – $76
Suggestion:
If the wedding is outside, you’ll probably want to cover your shoulders. Adding a statement jacket in the same color as your jumper can help create an interesting monochromatic look. Take a hint from our gal Kate Hudson. 😉

Long Sleeve Blouse and Chic Pants
Girl-Boss anyone?
Ornate Jacket and Skirt
Adding in an embellished or boucle jacket will keep you nice and toasty but can also jazz up your look.
Bonus: An embellished jacket is the perfect addition to your regular wardrobe. Perfect for work and the occasional party.

The Sweater & Midi Skirt Combo
Alternative: Long Sleeve & Tulle skirt combo
This is the look that I’ll be using to inspire my winter wedding outfit! After searching high and low I finally found this great tulle skirt on AMAZON – they really do have everything. This particular one shipped from China, but had plenty of real reviews from previous buyers that had nothing but great things to say about the seller. I took a leap of faith and the skirt actually arrived after 10 days! I bought mine in a beautiful navy.

Now I’m on to find the perfect top – stay tuned later this month to see how my outfit turned out!
Accessories
Also, if you’re worried about the formality of any of these outfits – have no fear. I’ve always felt that with the right accessories, you can make pretty much any outfit either extremely casual or formal. If you’re looking to add a extra bling, a sparkling necklace, bracelet, statement shoe, belt or clutch can really transform an outfit from laid-back to luxe.
Some fun options:
But, where can I get it?
Here are a few of my favorite online shops to browse – most are pretty affordable when you’re ballin’ on a budget (and a few that are key to shop, while on SALE). If you’re looking for more suggestions, check out my Online Shopping pinterest board for a collection of online shops to explore – I’m continually adding more so check it out!
