Okay so I have to be honest – this trip to Nobu Eden Roc was a result of my day job, but hey! traveling while entertaining media and forming fun friendships and work relationships is always a nice work perk. 😉 Another plus – I got to squeeze in a quick visit with the parentals before heading back to Tally-ho!
I really love this property for more than one reason – aside from the fact that it’s a gorgeous Miami beach hotel, the secret history nerd inside of me really loves that it’s a historical landmark in an ever-evolving and growing city. Just take a quick drive through Miami beach one month, and three months later there are like 3 more cranes and 5 more buildings that you’ve never seen before. It’s incredible.
It’s seriously crazy how much it’s grown just in the last 6 years. I moved up to Tallahassee for school and haven’t left. In the meantime, Miami and and South Florida in general has exploded and places like Wynwood (which were warehouse districts home to a few artists and dilapidated buildings) are now epicenters of the social Miami scene. CRAZY.
But enough of my rambling! I have to preface by saying that it rained almost all weekend, but we still got an amazing trip in. 🙂
Upon arrival, we received these yummy crudites from Malibu Farm – the farm to table restaurant on the hotel’s property. Just what I needed after a long flight!
We spent the latter half of the afternoon in meetings, and decided to scout out our Friday dinner spot for that night’s dinner – The Wynwood Yard. This mac and cheese from House of Mac = died and gone to heaven. Apparently our eyes were bigger than our stomachs though, because I ended up with like 3 plates of leftovers in my fridge.
The day our media started to arrive we grabbed a quick bite in the hotel’s lobby at Bar Nobu, where they were serving a Miami Spice menu – this was my chocolate souffle dessert. Just look at the gold dust artistry here. It was almost too pretty to eat.
Also, cannot forget the super refreshing fresh coconut cocktails – they scoop these on site!!
One of the highlights of the trip was an awesome cocktail demonstration from the lovely folks at Malibu Farm – each of the cocktails at the new restaurant is named for the main ingredient.
I.e. The Watermelon (no clever captions needed)
A little later in the week, we took a trip over to Wynwood to explore the walls, visit some amazing local breweries and finishedoff the night with a food-truck filled dinner.
*Disclaimer: This is not my hand lol
This one was carved out of the cement!!
A little play
After the media portion of my trip was over, I took advantage of my Sunday afternoon by meeting up with the parents, who were only a 40 min drive away. We decided to visit one of the new museums that just opened downtown – The Frost Museum Of Science. I had wanted to visit ever since they opened earlier this summer and it did not disappoint! (Truthfully I’m a little kid, so any sort of hands on museum is a win in my book).
Look how cute these little sculptures were!
These portraits were all made by a robot, who can see. Neat?!
Couldn’t leave before checking out the aquarium portion of the museum.
Back to reality – although I will say.. this sunset was quite the welcome home. 🙂
