Hi friends!!
It’s crazy how time can fly and you can fall off from your routine when other things pop up!
Lately I’ve been pretty busy traveling for work, vacationing, riding out Hurricanes and of course working on a few lettering projects for some fabulous clients. 🙂
Really excited to share this one. Honestly, I never really wanted to work on invitations or save the dates just because I know how time consuming they are to create from scratch and I obviously only want to put out the best work that I can. I’m also a perfectionist when it comes to artwork, so I always pick apart the smallest things and in turn drive myself up a wall. But when a good friend asked if I could do some envelopes for her bridesmaid proposals and THEN asked if I would be interested in whipping up some watercolor florals for her save the dates – I just had to!
(Check out these to die for envelopes. UGH I literally cannot get enough. I know I say that alot, but the white contrast against the kraft envelopes was killer!)
Step one – A little bit of background
The process started with a quick phone call, where I asked her to give me a few details about what she had envisioned for the wedding. Decor, colors, florals, greenery, bridesmaid dresses, location – all of this is important for the creative process.
She shared that neutrals would be a big part of her wedding, lilac/lavender would be incorporated in small amounts and that she really wanted a simple greenery style watercolor for her save the dates. She also shared that her wedding would be in Winter Park – whose city bird (didn’t know cities had these TBH) is a peacock. I also asked her to send along inspiration photos of what she liked and didn’t like so I knew what to stay away from.
Step two – The crafty part
After getting all of these details, I went to work playing around with my watercolor palette and getting the greenery right. Sages and muted green tend to look more realistic vs. the bright clip art style imagery she had been seeing.
Step three – Digitize & Finalize
Next, it was time to digitize those watercolor images. I entered it into good ole’ photoshop and did a little magic to create the below designs.
If you’re looking for something similar for your save the dates, or have another graphic you need created, maybe a logo for your business or a baby shower invitation – send me an email at lovelyoliveliving [at] gmail [dot] com.
