Happy Monday everyone! What better way to start off the week than to announce….
Drum Roll Please
I will finally be offering lettering services!!
Now try to contain your excitement! (I know I can’t)
In the spirit of a good background story, I figured I’d give you all a little bit of knowledge on how I became interested in lettering and calligraphy, and what made me decide to start offering services.
About a year and half ago, I was in my first year at my day job as a PR gal, when I felt like I needed a side hustle to keep my creative juices bubblin’. I had always been artistic and had tried my hand at a jewelry etsy shop, which I eventually got bored of and became too busy for. In all honestly, I sort of fell off with it, and I took it as a lesson about what I wanted to do and what I didn’t want to do. After stumbling upon a menagerie of calligraphy accounts on instagram, I became mesmorized by their work and watched them write beautiful things all day everyday for like two months before I decided to start a quick online lesson on Brit & Co; Intro to Calligraphy.
Needless to say, I was not really interested in the pointed pen, traditional calligraphy. I just couldn’t get the hang of it, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t commit myself to get really good at it. That’s when I fell into hand lettering, which is basically using brush pens and other markers/mediums to create the same thick and thin effect you get with calligraphy. And I fell in LOVE! Any chance I got I did something with my lettering – slowly growing my passion and my pen collection. 😉 I even did a bunch of things for my cousin’s bridal shower and wedding!
Fast forward to January of this year, when my friend and colleague Julianna from Joyfully Julianna, decided to start blogs to share our own personal adventures and passions. We went through all the initial learnings together, trying and planning and trying again. And finally, in February I started sharing my first blog posts, focusing on creativity, DIY and a little bit of lifestyle. It’s really true what they say about blogging and starting something new, it’s always a learning curve and what you originally set out to do, sometimes changes along the way. Now, I am running a blog that I enjoy sharing mostly DIY projects that either focus on home decor (another passion of mine) or hand lettering! After a few months of “I love your handwriting” and encouragement from family and friends, I have decided to start offering lettering services!!
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!
Well, this means that for any upcoming event you have going on, whether it’s a bridal party, a bachelorette party, your upcoming wedding, room renovation or update, gift giving, an anniversary, birthday party, literally the possibilities are endless, I am your go to gal!
I will continue to share my projects on Lovely Olive Living and fun ideas I have about how you can incorporate lettering into your life, but encourage you all to reach out the next time you’re looking to add an extra personal touch with hand lettering. 🙂
