Soooo today, I have an exciting project to share! The power of facebook and social media networking is crazy and so helpful in finding like-minded individuals to join. When I started this blog, I read post after post from other bloggers giving their advice and going on and on about how useful it is to join a community or at least to reach out to others for their input or collaboration. So I joined a few of those facebook groups and stumbled onto a local chapter of Tuesday’s Together, which is an initiative from the Rising Tide Society (a group meant for creative individuals).
That being said, I recently connected with Leanna from Cake Me With You Please who kindly included me in an upcoming photoshoot for a lovely bride and groom who were never able to celebrate their love with all of the bells and whistles. Everything was brought out so they were able to have a video made sharing their vows, have photos taken and we even “Let them eat cake!” The theme for this shoot/event was galaxy or “Moon & Stars”, so every styled item included beautiful blues and purple whismical colors that help illustrate “galaxy” or space.
Hand Lettered Cake Stand!
Now to my my contribution to this lovely idea! Leanna was putting together one of her lovely curated wedding cakes, and it felt like fate as I had recently came upon a new idea while walking through good ole’ Home Depot.
I thought, “How perfect would these wood rounds be for cake stands!” where couples could include their names or wedding date or a love quote to add that small personal touch to another aspect of their special day! It also really stems from the fact that I wonder if every item I see in a store can me written on – I secretly have a “Can I write on this?” Pinterest board. LOL Hand Lettering ProbZ.
Since the theme was “Moon and stars”, Leanna and I banded together to choose a quote that would match the theme, and decided on “To the moon & back remember?”

A few other lettering ideas for a stand like this!
Your wedding date and names
For a more traditional look, include your names or wedding date
“Monica & Jonathan <3 3.18.18″ OR ” <3 Monica & Jonathan”
Your hashtag or wedding phrase
Let’s say you have a theme for your wedding and you’ve been using a similar phrase throughout the rest of your wedding details, or if you’re religiously using your wedding hashtag, and want it to be in every photo godammit! Then knock yourself out and include it on your cake stand!
A cutesy quote
“Love is sweet”
“All you need is love and chocolate”
“Let them eat cake”
Other uses for this stand!
Now, let’s use our imaginations here. The beauty of commissioning a custom cake stand like this one, is that you can really create a one of a kind piece that you have control over the creative portion (With a little help from me of course!) Here is just a list of all of the fun ways you can incorporate this into another style event (other than a wedding), as a gift or even within your own home.
For something other than cake – cupcake or doughnut tower anyone?! Add some elevation to the bottom and make a tiered stand instead.
For table markers – Use a different name or phrase on each wood round and use that as your table markers with flowers in the center!
Custom colors/finishes – In a different color stain, white, with gold – the options are endless. This stand was a dark walnut stain.
For another event: Birthdays, Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, Anniversaries – Same way you can add hashtags, quotes or names. For another type of event you can include “Happy Birthday Elsie” or “Bride to Be” or “Babies are sweet but cake it sweeter”.
In your home as decor – Not only can you use this stand for your wedding or event, when you’re done, you can simply flip it over and hide the phrase and there you have it, a beautiful centerpiece round for your dining table, or serving board for dinner parties.
As a gift – Looking for a housewarming gift for a friend, or alternatively, a wedding gift for a friend or loved one? You can have their names and date added or a fun food quote for them to keep and cherish for years to come!
Some photos from the rest of the shoot…..
Look how beautiful the table setting came out – and aren’t these florals from Moonstruck Florals to die for!
