Every Christmas, I like to pick a few DIYs and make gifts for a collection of family & friends. If you’re a crafter like me and continually build on your collection of DIY pins on your pinterest board, then you won’t have a hard time finding a craft to conquer. A nice bonus: if you shop smart, you can really save a few bucks! This year, I decided to include hand lettering by making hand-lettered Christmas ornaments for my co-workers.
Be prepared:
Set of pretty ornaments (buy a few extra in case you mess up)
Burlap Bow
Red Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
Elmer’s Paint Markers
Step 1: Practice
Practice each name on a separate paper before you transfer to the ornaments
Step 2: Write names
Use your Elmer’s Paint Marker to write out each name on each ornament.
I chose gold and silver because they complemented my ornaments, which were clear glittered, but you can choose any color. I love these fine-tip markers – they come in 7 different colors and are perfect for writing on unusual surfaces. Check them out here.
Step 3: The Bow
I bought pre-fab burlap bows from Walmart for $2.00/7, but you can purchase a spool of burlap bow from Walmart or any craft store. Cut a 12″ section of burlap and tie a large bow to the top of the ornament.
Step 4: Hang
Then, measure out and cut 3″ sections of your silk ribbon, loop through the eye-hole of the top of the ornament (where the wire would usually go) and then attach the two ends together with a small dab of hot glue. Let dry for five minutes and Voila!
