As we’re knee deep in wedding season and people are looking to add fun decorative elements to their homes during the summer, I thought it’d be appropriate to share some of my favorite lettering trends and lettering ideas. Most of which I see as I patrol instagram explore and through what else, Pinterest.
Think it’d be safe to say, that Pinterest is one of my favorite websites for many reasons. One of which being the crazy amount of inspiration that creatives post for not-so-creatives to enjoy! But, among those pinners there are those like me who look to my fellow creatives for inspiration and LOVE working off of an idea and applying it in a different way! Isn’t that what creative innovation is in the first place?!
But enough of my creative babbling, let me share some of my favorites!
Acrylic
Now, I have yet to use this material specifically myself, but think it looks absolutely amazing for event menu’s, invitations, signage. You name it! I’ve written on glass and mirrors, but this just gives a whole new effect!
Some of my the few I’ve seen recently…

Bar Signs
Another one of my favorites – mainly because they usually include cute doodles and various adult beverages. I’ve seen so many creative signs when it comes to bar signs. Some have been stained wood, others are smaller menu style.
Either way, these are a great way to add some extra creativity to your wedding and might even inspire you to create your own custom cocktail for the bride and groom. These could also be great for parties, not just weddings. Maybe you include a virgin cocktail for the kiddos and a couple that go with your event theme?

Alternative table signage and escort/place cards
I’ve actually done quite a few of these type of inspo posts on the blog already (HERE). So I think you could say I really love this one. It just gives such an interesting tidbit to the event. Also, this is a great way to create a palce card that could double as your favor. Because we know how often people leave those behind – for those looking to cut costs but still wanting a high-class event and all the bells and whistles, this is two birds, one stone.
Occasionally, I’ve seen people use live plant materials, random pieces of wood or bark, tiles you can use as coasters with your name on them. So many ways to do this.

I’ve also seen some inventive table signs, from cutting boards to glass window panels. The sky really is the limit.

Stained Wood Signs
Coming down from the rustic chic high from the past few years, people are really looking to incorporate refined rustic into their events and weddings. I’ve seen some amazing applications of this with welcome signs, event sign, funny sayings for the gift table or giant menus.

Usually, they’re surrounded by flowers or greenery – some of them really are stunning. Occasionally, I’ve seen people do them on easels at the front of an event. These could also work amazing if you had a store and were looking for a display sign (I can definitely make that work!)

If you’re looking to do a bundle of signs like this, and not order them one by one, I’d be happy to work that out with you! We can create a custom order for you to include different signage to fit the style and theme of your event!

I’ve also seen some of these stained wood signs fit perfectly into a home setting. I myself created one for about our bed with a cute motivational quote (get a closer look below and on my previous post) – next on the list I’d love to do something like this for a nursery! Think it would be really cute to do a baby name, or a sign with a cute story book quote. I don’t have a kid or I’d make one for myself. lol

Envelope Addressing
And it just wouldn’t be a hand lettering inspiration post if I didn’t include the largest trend of them all – hand addressed envelopes. Now this is what got me addicted to this in the first place. I just love the way it adds a personal touch to the invitation you send. As more and more people want to spend less on whole invitations and possibly do them themselves on the computer or have them printed, this is a perfect way to still make it look like you tried. LOL

Hello!! Wondering if you could give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost to have you handwrite (The name & Address) for 300 invitations for my wedding? If you could send me a quote that would be amazing – THANK YOU!

Hi Kate!
Thanks so much for reaching out. 🙂
Standard front/outer envelope addressing including name and address would be $3/envelope. As an FYI this would not include return addressing or stamps. Normally my clients will order whichever envelopes they prefer and direct mail them to me. I will address them and then ship them to them for stamping and filling.
In total for 300 envelopes that would be $900 + shipping/handling. 🙂
This pricing would be for standard writing, if you’d like any additional flourishes on each this would be an additional $1 per envelope.
When would you need these by?
Let me know if this is something you’d like to move forward with and I can send you a more formal invoice and we can work on timing! 🙂
